Room number:
5008
Laboratory manager:
Prof. Dr. Salman Kurtulan
Laboratory staff:
Res. Asst. Oytun Eriş
General information:
The Industrial Automation Laboratory, founded by cooperative enterprise of Control System Division of ITU School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Siemens Corporation in 1997, has been effective in education process by updating its automation technologies continuously. Within the framework of an agreement signed between SMC-ENTEK and ITU School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2003, functionality of the laboratory has been increased by new hardware that enables Electropneumatics and Mechatronics education
Laboratory facilities:
The Industrial Education program given in the laboratory is performed practically on the latest hardware.
• S7-200 Basic and Advanced Level PLC Programming
• S7-200 PLC Control Applications
• S7-300 Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Level Programming
• Industrial Communication (Profibus, Profinet, MPI,)
• SCADA (WIN CC)
• Electrical Drives (MicroMaster, Master Drives)
In this laboratory, which enables education of approximately 200 people per year, information concerning problems and needs of industrial organizations is acquired. This information provides significant contribution for reconstruction and management of both Industrial Automation and Control Engineering education programs.
Experiments conducted in laboratory:
Fan and Plate
Purpose of usage:
Research projects, undergrudate courses, undergraduate senior design projects, MSc and PhD thesis studies, training and project activities within the scope of university-indusrty collaboration. Recently, in 2009, Industrial Automation Laboratory went through a major renovation. A seminar room is built for seminars and ongoing trainings. This room is equipped with multimedia systems for presentations and industrial controller education sets for trainings. An air conditioning system is also installed to improve the working conditions.
